LIV Golf and the CW Network
LIV Golf is a Saudi-funded professional golf tour that launched in 2021 with the objective to broadcast its events on the CW Network. This multi-year agreement marked the first time in The CW's 17-year history that the network became the exclusive broadcast home for live mainstream sports. The deal with the CW would fill a major objective for LIV Golf, as the CW is in 220 U.S. markets, and will air 14 global LIV Golf League live events in 2023 and will stream the events live on The CW App. The partnership with the CW Network will provide maximum exposure for the athletes and partners, and the network’s nationwide reach will provide accessibility for the fans. The agreement ends a months-long search by LIV Golf to find a broadcast home in the US, hampered in part by the breakaway group's attempt to create their own tour. The new league’s progressive format and tournaments have attracted a star-studded, international field featuring many of the sport’s biggest names including major winners. The 2023 LIV Golf League is set to begin on February 24-26 at the Mayakoba Resort’s El Camaleón course in Mexico. The innovative new golf format featuring simultaneous team and individual play, with 12 teams competing in a global 14-event schedule for an unprecedented $405 million in prize purses. This multi-year agreement with the CW Network has proven to be a successful step for LIV Golf, and will help the league to continue to grow and expand.
